SANTA CLARITA – Authorities urged residents Wednesday to remain alert to strangers in their neighborhoods following the arrests of three burglary suspects who targeted several homes in the area. Parvin Tanner, 20, Allen Brooks, 19, and a third suspect who was not named because he is a juvenile were arrested March13, according to the Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff’s officials called the suspects “door knock” burglars. They are suspected of being part of an Antelope Valley gang that goes to high-income neighborhoods and knocks on doors to determine if residents are home, according to the Sheriff’s Department. If someone answers, the burglar pretends to ask for directions or gives some pretext for knocking, but if no one is home, the burglar sneaks inside, authorities said. Stolen property the three suspects tried to pawn was traced to several burglaries that happened in the Santa Clarita Valley the day the three were arrested on suspicion of burglary, according to the Sheriff’s Department. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
