Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew praised Wilfried Zaha’s reaction to being dropped after the winger came off the bench to help the Eagles beat Watford on Sunday.Zaha won the penalty which Yohan Cabaye converted to secure Palace their third win on the road this season and move them up to sixth in the Premier League.Pardew hauled Zaha off at half-time in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham but was pleased with the way the 20-year-old acquitted himself after telling him he wouldn’t be starting against the Hornets.“This is a lesson learned for him,” said Pardew. “He can’t let his standards slip, especially with Sako and (Yannick) Bolasie. I can’t play them all and competition is fierce.“I thought his reaction in the week was very good, I told him on Thursday he wouldn’t start despite playing well on Wednesday. He took that well and has reacted in the right way.”Palace have won admirers for their attacking brand of football so far this season but were forced to grind out a scrappy win at Vicarage Road and Pardew was relieved to avoid a third straight league defeat.“From a manger’s perspective it was a great day for me and my team,” he said.“The concentration levels were really high today. There was some really good wide play and in the end that won us the game.“I don’t smile often but I do smile today because I was really pleased, it wasn’t our greatest performance but it was a good, professional performance and as manager of the team that makes me happy.”
Sergio Busquets 1 Dietmar Hamann believes Sergio Busquets would be an ideal signing for Manchester City. The defensive midfielder has indicated he be could tempted to follow his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola to the Etihad in the summer. The 27-year-old has won every major honour in the game with Barca and Spain, and Hamann says he is exactly the type of player City need to progress.Speaking on the Colin Murray show, the former City midfielder said: “Luis Enrique came out saying that he is the best midfielder around. I’m not sure I would go that far but in that holding role, as a hugely underrated and undervalued player he has done fantastic things.“I wasn’t too sure a few years ago when he came into the team. But what he has done for Spain, what he has done for Barcelona, he has been fantastic and I think he would improve that City team no end.“They have got so much attacking power, they need someone to sit in front of that back four and he would be a perfect fit.”

Heat deal Walker Antoine Walker’s turbulent time with the Miami Heat is over. Miami traded the three-time All-Star forward to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a five-player deal that came one day after Miami completed a winless preseason. Walker, backup center Michael Doleac, oft-injured forward Wayne Simien and a conditional first-round draft pick were sent to Minnesota for former Miami swingman Ricky Davis and center Mark Blount. The deal gives Miami the third scoring option it wanted in Davis. The Heat will try to fit him in alongside Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade – who’ll miss a few more weeks while recovering from knee and shoulder surgeries. Walker helped the Heat win the 2006 NBA title but his weight bothered Coach Pat Riley. Howard will miss the first two games of the regular season anyway because of his suspension for an altercation with Sacramento center Brad Miller. 1 Liverpool goalscorer Divock Origi revealed Jurgen Klopp encouraged his players to make history before they mounted their stunning comeback to beat Borussia Dortmund and reach the semi-finals of the Europa League. The Reds got off to a horrible start as Dortmund scored twice in the opening nine minutes through Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave Liverpool needing three. After Origi pulled one back early in the second half, Dortmund scored again to seemingly end the tie, but Philippe Coutinho, Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren had other ideas, with Lovren’s stoppage-time header for a 4-3 win sealing a remarkable comeback.Origi told BT Sport: “It was very special. At half-time, the coach said we had to create the moment where we could tell our grandchildren, our children about, make a special night for the fans.“We believed. I think when we scored the first goal we all felt it could be a special moment.”Lovren said of scoring the winner: “It’s an amazing feeling. I think it was one of the best games of the last two or three years. We never stopped believing in ourselves. We said at half-time we had nothing to lose, we just had to believe. It was a great effort from everyone.”“Of course we didn’t expect a start like this, it was a sh*t start, but we all showed character and never stopped believing. Nothing is over.”Sakho added: “The most important thing today was the team played with heart and the fans never, never leave. They always shout together. This is a win for the Liverpool country.”Manager Klopp said: “It’s difficult to explain. It was a wonderful, wonderful night. The game was strange from the beginning.“When we brought on Joe Allen and Daniel Sturridge, we gave the message to show character. If we lose, we don’t care but we have to show character and okay, they did a lot more than that.“It was brilliant. I think that’s what European football can be at its best. It was a wonderful experience and it’s hard to believe it really happened.” Jurgen Klopp praised a ‘wonderful night’ for the Reds
